It had to happen. New Zealand police swoop on weapon training camps
For a couple of years now I've been following several futurists and commentators who focus on Fourth Generation Warfare; 4GW is the price we pay for globalisation, and a war no nation is equipped to fight effectively.
Given the roots of 4GW (the dissolution of the nation-state as an identity in favour of tribal/religious/family groups) and New Zealand's relatively open multicultural society, today's events (which appear to have been the result of a long-term surveillance operation) are significantly concerning.
It's time to stop the armchair generalship, I think, and start some real work. I've wanted to research New Zealand's approach to fighting 4GW, and I think that today is the best catalyst I can hope(?) for.
